Hello, I am Amiya, a student musician with harp as my main instrument, alongside piano, music theory and composition. I enjoy exploring new pieces and composers, performing in my school orchestra and ensembles and I volunteer as a teaching assistant in a Junior School Music Theory club, creating lesson plans and teaching lessons to students weekly.
I created this website to share what I am learning and to develop my skills as a thoughtful, encouraging tutor. I aim to explain ideas clearly, adapt activities to the individual pupil and help beginners build confidence step by step.

I am a developing tutor rather than an established professional teacher, so I currently offer free introductory trial lessons. In school, I have taught several individual lessons to beginner harpists at school, to develop my harp teaching skills.
Biography
I started playing the harp at age 6, inspired by how beautiful it sounded and its elegance. I play three instruments and I am ABRSM Grade 8 level on both the harp and piano, and Grade 6 on the trumpet. I have also attained my ABRSM Grade 6 Theory Certificate (self-taught).
My musical accomplishments include being selected for NCO (National Children’s Orchestra) aged 10 and 11, with residential musical training by professional harpists, composers and conductors, culminating in public performances at concert venues around the UK.
Aged 12, I successfully auditioned for the junior conservatoire department of the Royal Academy of Music, which I have attended to date with lessons on instruments, composition and ensembles. Having achieved a 9 in GCSE music, I am now pursuing A-Level Music, including performance, composition and theory.
I have performed in Masterclasses taught by renowned harpists including Catrin Finch, Lisa Tannebaum and Ieuan Jones, and been taught as part of an ensemble by the harpist Brenda Dor Groot (who was commissioned to perform at St Paul’s Cathedral and the Royal Horse Guard’s Christmas and New Year Services). I have also attended a summer residential course by Miriam Keogh, a professional classical harpist. I attend a variety of concerts and I also perform regularly in orchestras, bands and ensembles on the harp, piano and trumpet.
I am available to teach introductory complimentary lessons on the harp and piano. See Contact page for details.
